A physical therapist had his license suspended and received a reprimand for having a sexual relationship with a patient, according to an order this month from the Minnesota Board of Physical Therapy. In late 2007, Wayne C. Erickson of Merrifield, Minn., began providing therapy sessions to a co-worker. The sessions occurred primarily during lunch breaks and after hours. No records were kept. The sessions continued after the relationship became sexual in 2008. Erickson was fired from the therapy practice last year for a "violation of ethical behavior." Erickson must take a class in professional boundaries and submit to a psychological evaluation. After a year, Erickson may petition to have his suspension lifted. Read the full stipulation and order here.
