'Waitress'

Between the Sara Bareilles songs, the smell of fresh-baked pie wafting through the theater and the presence of two local girls in the cast, what's not to like about "Waitress"? Still running on Broadway, this is a musical adaptation of an indie-film dramedy about a woman, trapped in a loveless marriage, who hopes a pie-baking contest is the ticket to happiness for her and her daughter (Bayport's Prewitt Anderson and Maple Grove's Estela Antivilo alternate in that role). 2 & 8 p.m. Fri.-Sat., 1 & 6:30 p.m. Sun., Orpheum Theatre, 910 Hennepin Av. S., Mpls., $39-$145, 1-800-982-2787 or hennepintheatretrust.org.

As an eviction crisis has seemed increasingly likely this summer, everyone in the housing market has made the same plea to Washington: Send money — lots of it — that would keep renters in their homes and landlords afloat.
