Homeward bound

"Adventures in Babysitting," the movie that made Elisabeth Shue a star, is the latest '80s favorite to be re-imagined for a new generation. Sabrina Carpenter ("Girl Meets World") is the latest kid-keeper to hit the big city in search of a ward who has probably not sneaked off to catch a screening of "Porky's."

The sounds and the fury

Samuel L. Jackson, who appears in roughly 3,452 films a year, takes time off from his hectic schedule to scoop up the lifetime achievement award at the "BET Awards 16," the annual event that pays tribute to the finest in African-American entertainment. Sheila E. and the Roots will take part in a musical tribute to Prince.

Pyramid scheme

Same rules, same theme music, same set. In other words, don't expect a lot of changes in a reboot of "The $100,000 Pyramid," although new host Michael Strahan seems decidedly more upbeat than original scorekeeper Dick Clark. Celebrity guests include Anthony Anderson, Rosie O'Donnell and a very competitive Sherri Shepherd. All that competition for screen time on "The View" seems to have paid off.

Money, money, money

A certain musical's success has ignited passionate interest in a Founding Father — and a lot of TV projects. One of the first, "Alexander Hamilton," forgoes the rap numbers in favor of commentary from the likes of Ron Chernow, Tom Brokaw and Maria Bartiromo. It's a surprise that PBS hasn't repeated the 2007 documentary on the same subject, expertly produced by Twin Cities Public Television.
