There's no other way to say it: The Twins are a mess. Ask a dozen people how they would fix the mess, and you might well get a dozen different answers. So many problems. So many potential solutions.

We've asked the Star Tribune's four baseball experts — columnists Patrick Reusse and Jim Souhan, and beat writers La Velle E. Neal III and Phil Miller — for their opinions on what the Twins need to do to end the streak of futility that has now stretched to four successive 90-loss seasons.

Each writer focused on a single issue — Latin coaches (or lack thereof), decisionmakers, starting pitching and the sometimes painful need to stick with a rebuilding plan — and four vastly different road maps for a Twins turnaround was the result.

Jim Souhan believes the Twins need to fire Ron Gardenhire and bring in a new manager.

Patrick Reusse says the Twins lack mentors for their young and talented Latin players.

La Velle E. Neal III wants the change to begin with the addition of a high-profile ace pitcher.

Phil Miller argues that waiting for prospects to develop is the hardest part of rebuilding.

Michael Rand talks about the big questions looming for the Twins and Gardenhire.
