Today's ancient piece of visual history which may or may not have any relevance to your daily life:

It's a 1954 photograph of the Walker, the early bastion of modern art. If you wanted to see an old matron peering through a lorgnette at a Brancusi, not quite gettting it, unsure if there was anything else to get, but happy we had such progressive folk who appreciated these things, not like her husband - his idea of art was one of those awful drawings in the Esquire magazine he kept in the garage - well, the Walker was where you went. Or perhaps I'm confusing reality with a Helen Hokinson cartoon.

What does this mean?

Doisneau was a French photographer. "Rood" - I've no idea. Any suggestions?
