The Vikings' road ahead

November 6, 2011 at 5:32AM

A snapshot look at the second-half schedule:Nov. 14 at Green Bay (7-0) The Vikings are 2-2 in Monday night games played at Lambeau Field. Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, meanwhile, is 2-4 as a starter on Monday nights.

Nov. 20 vs. Oakland (4-3) The Raiders are tied atop the AFC West. And if Darren McFadden recovers from a foot injury, this game could be a tailback highlight reel featuring McFadden and Adrian Peterson.

Nov. 27 at Atlanta (4-3) A sleeper pick to make noise this season - Sports Illustrated's Peter King pegged them as Super Bowl champs - the Falcons have been surprisingly average.

Dec. 4 vs. Denver (2-5) It sure would be intriguing to see Tim Tebow play at Mall of America Field. But will Tebow still be John Fox's starter a month from now?

Dec. 11 at Detroit (6-2) Against the Vikings in Week 3, Calvin Johnson had 99 yards and two TDs -- in the second half. That was on the road, against a secondary at full strength.

Dec. 18 vs. New Orleans (5-3) Drew Brees is completing 70.6 percent of his passes and on pace to throw for 5,492 yards and 38 touchdowns. All would be career highs.

Dec. 24 at Washington (3-4) 'Twas the day before Christmas with little at stake. Not even a McNabb-Shanahan reunion will keep you awake.

Jan. 1 vs. Chicago (4-3) The Vikings' 39-10 loss in Chicago three weeks ago might have been rock bottom. But hey, at least the blowout forced rookie Christian Ponder into action.
