pick of the week: Want to take a drum for a test drive? The Women's Drum Center is holding free classes this week, culminating in a community drum jam on Saturday. The classes range from ones for people who aren't sure which side of the drum to pound on to workshops on advanced techniques. Class times also vary, with morning, afternoon and evening sessions. You can bring your own drum if you have one, but the center has plenty of them to use. Saturday's gathering starts with an open house at 6:30 p.m., performances by center members at 7 p.m. and open drumming at 8:30 p.m. The center is at 2242 W. University Av., St. Paul.
