PICK OF THE WEEK: Here's a good deal for sports fans, horse lovers and cheapskates — Canterbury Park has brought back Buck Night Thursdays. In addition to admission being just $1 — that's also the price of a program, soft drinks, popcorn and nachos. And for another dollar, you can upgrade to a hot dog or slider. As always, parking is free. The track is near the intersection of Hwy. 169 and Canterbury Road (County Road 83) in Shakopee. Thursday's first post (that's racing jargon for the first race) is at 6:30 p.m. (canterburypark.com)

Cheat sheet: It's officially summer. We know that because the summer solstice takes place at 5:34 p.m. Monday. And because the pro hockey season finally ended last week. Here are some other summery tidbits.

• An analysis of 2.4 million tweets found that messages sent during the summer tend to be more positive than those sent during the winter.

• A Rolling Stone poll of the "best summer songs of all time" was topped by "Dancing in the Street."

LIFE HACK: If you're brown-bagging it, wrap your sandwich in a paper towel before putting it in a plastic bag. It helps keep the bread from getting soggy on humid days.

recommended reading: Forest bathing, a new form of nature therapy, is catching on in Minnesota. Read about it in Thursday's Variety.
