The National Media Director for Anytime Fitness e-mailed today suggesting a follow-up to the "Joe Mauer fact" post and story we did a couple weeks ago. He compiled what he considered the best "facts" that have subsequently been published, and while we know Anytime Fitness is just blatantly fishing for more publicity -- can you blame them? -- we'll go for it. Here are some of the best Mauer "facts," according to Anytime Fitness (the contest runs through the end of the month), along with the accompanying note from National Media Director Mark Daly:
Since your story ran, and the video was posted on anytimefitness.com, hundreds of readers/viewers have posted their own "Mauer Facts." Some of them are actually quite funny. Here's a sample:
•Sometimes Joe's car refuses to start just because it wants him to sit in it for a few more minutes.
•Joe Mauer once went to The Virgin Islands ... when he left they were just called The Islands.
•Joe Mauer hits his home runs in the first row since anything more than that would be showing off.
•Joe Mauer is so wholesome, that things that were once considered wholesome are just partsome.
•When Joe Mauer visits Lake Superior, it temporarily becomes Lake Inferior.
•Joe Mauer's mom has a tattoo that says son.
