These are some of the high-profile cases recently tried by Jill Clark and/or Jill Waite

November 2007: Argued before the state Supreme Court for Shawn Fraser's right to paddle his 12-year-old son as discipline. Hennepin County had intervened on behalf of the boy. The Supreme Court has yet to rule.

August 2007: Won a $110,000 police brutality settlement from Minneapolis for Philander Jenkins, who is in jail and charged with shooting two men to death in early 2007. He won a lawsuit against the police filed in 2005 that alleged an officer kicked Jenkins while handcuffed. They are defending Jenkins in his murder trial.

July 2007: Defended state Rep. Mark Olson on spousal abuse charges. He was convicted of misdemeanor assault but acquitted of intentionally harming or trying to harm her.

Ongoing: Represented Ali Dunham in a lawsuit over her dismissal from the Wayzata Country Club. Last fall, two years after the case was dismissed after Dunham went golfing rather than show up for a deposition, it was revived by the state Court of Appeals. The revival prompted a Ramsey County district judge to issue an angry order.

As an eviction crisis has seemed increasingly likely this summer, everyone in the housing market has made the same plea to Washington: Send money — lots of it — that would keep renters in their homes and landlords afloat.
