The hunt for stadium funding

November 2, 2011 at 2:20AM

As the deadline for a special session on the Vikings stadium approaches, funding options are narrowing. On Tuesday, state leaders said Minneapolis and Ramsey County cannot raise sales tax without taking the issue to voters in November 2012 -- generally considered too late for a stadium deal. Leaders now must find other ways to fill a $350 million gap.

What's out

• Citywide sales tax in Minneapolis.

• Countywide sales tax in Ramsey County.

What's still possible

• A downtown Minneapolis casino.

• Electronic pulltabs -- the video form of paper pulltabs.

• Racino -- video slots at horse-racing tracks.

• A Minnesota State Lottery Vikings scratch-off game.
