The graying of Facebook

The social media network is still a giant, with more than 1 billion users worldwide, but its cool factor has taken a hit.

• 94 percent of teens who use social media have Facebook profiles, but researchers have concluded that they're losing interest in the site.

• 67 percent of American adult Internet users have a Facebook profile. It's not just young adults — 57 percent of those ages 50 to 64 use Facebook.

• Teens are turning to: Twitter, Instagram and YouTube; blogging platform Tumblr; messaging apps Snapchat and Kik; and the Q-and-A network ask.fm.
