Have gun, get PG-13

There was more gunplay in PG-13 movies released last year than in R-rated movies, according to a study by the Annenberg Public Policy Center and Ohio State University. Gun violence in PG-13 films has more than tripled since 1985, when the "13" was added in response to the gore in such PG movies as "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom" and "Gremlins."

The final reel

Paul Feig is working on a spinoff to "The Heat," focusing on the crass sisters-in-law of Melissa McCarthy's Shannon. … Dustin Hoffman, Steve Buscemi and Adam Sandler star in the indie drama "The Cobbler." … Julianne Moore will play a woman with early-onset dementia in "Still Alice." … It's a Wretched Idea: A sequel to "It's a Wonderful Life" is in the works, featuring Karolyn Grimes (little Zuzu in the original) as an angel who sets George's ungrateful grandson straight.
