Remember Kyle MacDonald, the guy who harnesses the power of the web to trade a single red paperclip for a house in a small Canadian town?
His story was inspiring and made an impression on Tony DelDotto. So when Mind the Future, Tony's tiny nonprofit aimed at helping kids pay for college was having trouble raising money during the recession, he borrowed MacDonald's idea with the hope of raising enough to hire an executive director and finance 10 scholarships.
I wrote a story about The Big Trade Up back in August:
DelDotto said the campaign was generating a lot of interest:
It took a while, but DelDotto and company finally found a way to trade that wedding package for something bigger.

The Minnesota Timberwolves have agreed to trade an executive suite package valued at $96,000 for the $53,000 wedding package.
The package includes a Target Center suite plus a dozen tickets to the Wolves' 41 basketball games and the Lynx's 17 games this season. But the big value for big fans will be a one-time pre-game bench sit or meet and greet with the team.
The Wolves haven't said exactly what they plan to do with the wedding package, although in the press release, team president Chris Wright said that in addition to helping the Mind the Future reach its goal, "we'll also be able to help a deserving couple have a fantastic wedding experience."
