1. Bakken Museum turns 50

As part of the weekend celebration, the public gets free entry to the museum and grounds. The birthday bash Saturday features special activities. On Sunday, Minnesota STEM Book Fest hosts literary activities. (10 a.m.-4 p.m. Sat.-Sun. Bakken Museum, 3537 Zenith Av. S., Mpls. thebakken.org/fifty)

2. Indigenous Peoples Day

3. Cantus

4. Oktoberfest

5. PlantyCon

6. Carpenter Apple Festival

7. Flannel Fest + Booya

Pull out your heavier flannel shirt for a brisk day outdoors with music, food and fire barrels. 8. Nick ‘the Feelin’

9. Indigenous Peoples Day Powwow
