Hello afternoon commuters.

Welcome to a special edition of the The Drive. As advertised, the slow and slop has arrived just in time to muck up the trip home.

Roads are an absolute mess right now, so you'll definitely need extra time to get home. MnDOT lists roads as in fair condition. They are deteriorating rapidly.

Southbound Hwy. 55 is jammed from I-94 to the Mississippi River in St. Paul. Look for a crash blocking the left lane on the Lafayette Bridge.

A vehilce is in the ditch on southbound 35W at Hwy. 13, evidence of the slippery conditions.

A rollover crash has just cleared at Hwy. 169 and Hwy. 55 in Plymouth.

Metro Transit is reporting that 15 percent of buses are behind schedule.

SouthWest Transit is running extra buses this afternoon, but says customers should allow extra time.

All MVTA buses are running, but it too says customer should expect delays.

As an eviction crisis has seemed increasingly likely this summer, everyone in the housing market has made the same plea to Washington: Send money — lots of it — that would keep renters in their homes and landlords afloat.
