Municipal workers repaired a sewer line that recently caused a large sinkhole near Phalen Park on Johnson Parkway in St. Paul. According to Tim O’Donnell, a spokesman for Metropolitan Council Environmental Services, the line that failed was a 54-inch gravity-flow concrete pipe laid in 1989 that collects sewage from as far as Forest Lake and directs it to the Met Council’s Metropolitan wastewater treatment plant on the Mississippi River in St. Paul.
