The Cubs introduced their first modern era mascot on Monday -- Clark, a cub bear. A seemingly routine thing was not helped by the fact that Clark has no pants, and the Internet took it from there.
And the Cubs aren't too happy about it, according to ESPNChicago:
"I'm disappointed at some of the unfortunate images that went from negative to despicable," Julian Green, vice president of communications and community affairs, said Tuesday. "There are some folks that had strong reactions to the mascot, but at the same time, there are folks that see what we're trying to do. It's strictly for kids and family entertainment."
In fairness, as we noted yesterday, T.C. Bear is also a pants-free bear mascot. Sometimes you just can't win, especially if you're the Cubs.
