Righthander Terry Doyle is headed back to the White Sox.
Doyle, a Rule 5 pick in December, has been offered back to Chicago, and all indications are that the Sox are taking him back,
The Twins hoped they had found a durable innings eater to add depth to their rotation. Doyle got their attention with a strong run in the Arizona Fall League but struggled in camp. In 5.1 innings, Doyle gave up 10 earned runs on 14 hits and three walks.
Twins GM Terry Ryan said Doyle cleared waivers, and the Twins tried working out a deal with the White Sox to be able to keep the pitcher in the minors, as they did last spring with 2010 Rule 5 pick Scott Diamond
"We just couldn't find any common ground on what satisfied both of us," Ryan said.
