Snow melts from the bottom up. No, really. I saw it on the interwebs so it must be true. Darker ground absorbs the sun's invisible infrared radiation and (usually) melts snow from below. What a fun party topic. Thanks, Paul.

Spring may return as fast as it left. The sun is as high in the sky as it was on Sept. 13. We've picked up close to four hours of additional daylight since Dec. 21. And a brisk Canadian wind flow will switch around next week, blowing from the Pacific Ocean. Which is warmer than Canada, at last report.

I see 40s this holiday weekend (close to average) with 50s next week. There is an outside shot at 60F at Target Field for next Thursday's Twins home opener. Yes please.

No more stormy drama anytime soon. A little light rain may fall tonight (slushy mix central Minnesota) but a weak storm we're tracking for Sunday/Monday should track south of home.

Was this the last spasm of winter? I won't go out on that limb, but next week will restore your faith in a Minnesota spring.
