After six consecutive days of temperatures more than 10 degrees F above normal, cooler, though more seasonable, weather will return to the United KingdomTuesday. This recent warm weather was impressive. The warmest temperature ever for April6 was recorded earlier in the week at Santon Downham in Norfolk. The hightemperature reached 74.3F (23.5C), breaking the previous record of 73.9F(23.3C) from 1892.
Although Wednesday was the warmest day for many locations, beautiful weathercontinued over the weekend with highs reaching the upper 60s in severallocations.
The cooler weather will be the result of the jet stream dipping south acrossthe United Kingdom. This will allow cooler air to the north to settle southwardover the British archipelago.
High temperatures will be in the 50s in most areas but will likely remain inthe 40s across northern Scotland. A few showers may also dampen portions ofScotland, Ireland and north and east England.
