The Champlin teenager fatally hit by a freight train over the weekend in Anoka slipped and fell while trying to get to her commuter train, authorities said Tuesday.

The victim of Sunday's incident was identified by the Anoka County Sheriff's Office as Danielle M. Rogers, 18, who was on her way to work in Bloomington. Witnesses told authorities that Rogers tried to cross the tracks in front of an eastbound BNSF train "but appears to have lost her footing in the newly fallen snow" and was fatally struck, the statement read.
