A teenager was dragged to his death by a pickup truck driver over the weekend in a west metro community, and two people have been jailed in connection with the incident, authorities in Wright County said Monday.

The pickup dragged Justin Harvey, 18, of Montrose, along the 500 block of 1st Street N. in Montrose, the Sheriff's Office said. Authorities were notified about 2:25 a.m. Sunday that someone was unconscious in the road, the Sheriff's Office added.

Harvey approached the pickup truck parked on the road "and became involved in a confrontation with a passenger still seated in the vehicle," a statement from the Sheriff's Office read. "The vehicle accelerated during the confrontation dragging Harvey a short distance."

Deputies and emergency responders tended to Harvey before he was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center, where he died.

The two people arrested are being held on suspicion of criminal vehicular operation and robbery, the Sheriff's Office added. They have yet to be charged.
