The body of a 15-year-old boy was found near railroad tracks in northeast Minneapolis on Thursday night.

The boy was identified as Christopher Hanson, who lived in northeast Minneapolis less than two miles from where he was found, according to the Hennepin County Medical Examiner. Police were dispatched to tracks near 14th Avenue Northeast and Fillmore Street at about 10:20 p.m. after a railroad employee found the teen dead, police spokesman Sgt. Steve McCarty said on Friday.

Hanson died from injuries suffered in a "train mishap," according to the medical examiner. The cause of death is multiple blunt force craniocerebral injuries.

The body wasn't found at a designated railroad crossing, said Amy McBeth, a representative for the BNSF Railway Company, which operates the tracks. Also, there was no prior report of a train striking something, McBeth said.

Hanson's death is currently under investigation.
