Teen blamed for sexual assault in Mankato A teenage boy from another state is being blamed for a sexual assault that occurred in the performing arts building at Minnesota State University, Mankato, according to police.

On Feb. 7, a female victim was groped while in a stairwell. Investigators showed still images from a surveillance video to school officials in hopes of identifying the suspect.

Investigators were given the name of a boy who matched the description of the suspect. The suspect, 16, was visiting from another state at the time of the assault, but police declined to identify the state. Mankato investigators contacted police where the suspect lives and when authorities contacted the boy, he was wearing an orange hooded sweatshirt similar to the one worn by the suspect in the video footage.

The suspect has yet to be arrested; police are seeking a charge of second-degree criminal sexual conduct from the Blue Earth County attorney's office.

The plea by Paul S. Andrescik, 44, involves an assault on Sept. 6. As part of the agreement, a domestic assault charge is being dropped against Andrescik from another incident on Feb. 4 involving the same woman.

Andrescik was on the council from 2002 to 2005.
