Tech accused in Oxycodone thefts

A former pharmacy worker has been charged with stealing patient information, working up bogus Oxycodone prescriptions and then giving the powerful and addictive painkiller to people she met online for money and drugs.

Jenna K. Erickson, 26, of Bloomington, was charged Wednesday in Hennepin County District Court with identity theft and six counts of fifth-degree drug possession -- all felonies -- and remains jailed in lieu of $30,000 bail.

According to the criminal complaint:

Suspected forged prescriptions surfaced in Apple Valley in February, and investigators traced them to Erickson, who worked as a pharmacy technician at a CVS in Eden Prairie.

Erickson told officers that she met two people online and agreed to give them information on about 10 patients in exchange for money and 20 Oxycodone pills.

Aided by an online cohort, Erickson created fake prescriptions on her home computer, the complaint said.

Officers searched Erickson's computer and found fraudulent prescriptions for six people. The patients' confidential information included date of birth, the prescriber's name and the medication sought.

CVS said it has apologized to customers and has fired Erickson.
