Former DFL State Sen. Tarryl Clark raised $228,000 in the third quarter, the campaign said, a number that's likely to top the other three DFLers gunning to take on U.S. Rep. Chip Cravaack in the Eighth District.

Clark's campaign announced its top-line fundraising totals Thursday evening, including Clark's $235,000 cash on hand. With her second-quarter fundraising, Clark has raised $369,000 in 2011. Detailed Federal Election Commission reports are due Saturday for all federal candidates.

Clark's third-quarter fundraising figure is comparable to Cravaack's second-quarter total of $223,000. The freshman Republican hasn't released his total for the months of July-September.

Clark, who lost to Rep. Michele Bachmann in an expensive Sixth District 2010 election, is one of four DFLers looking to take on the Cravaack in the Eighth in 2012. The others, former Rep. Rick Nolan, Duluth City Council member Jeff Anderson and former Franken staffer Daniel Fanning, have not announced their third-quarter figures.
