Target Corp. on Thursday recalled about 560,000 water-absorbing toys, citing a serious ingestion hazard, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.

The small toys, with Easter and dinosaur themes, can expand once inside the body and cause possibly life-threatening intestinal obstructions, the commission said in a statement. "Surgery is required to remove the toy from the body, if ingested," the statement said, adding that the toys might not show up on an X-ray.

Anyone who bought the toys are asked to take them immediately away from children and return them to any Target store for a full refund. They were sold in February and March for $1, the commission said.

The recall covers Hatch & Grow Easter Eggs, Easter Grow Toys and Hatch Your Own Dino. The Easter toys have model 234-25-1200 on the packaging. The dino toy has model number 234-09-0016.
