Target Field trade announcements: Oops

Trades announced on the scoreboard during Thursday's game were the result of human error at Target Field, and a division rival had some fun with the gaffe.

The Target Field scoreboard during Thursday's game against Baltimore erroneously reported several major league trades. The problem, according to Twins President Dave St. Peter, was "operator error'' at Target Field.

One of the sources for scoreboard notes is MLB.com. That website moved rumored trades under the headline: Deadline Deal rumors/prognotistications.

A Target Field scoreboard operator incorrectly formatted the notes to exclude the part of the disclaimer that made it clear these were only rumored trades.

"A teaching moment inside our shop,'' St. Peter said.

Meanwhile, early Friday evening the Cleveland Indians used the gaffe to poke some fun at their friends up the way
