Talented teens to face off Saturday at Pantages

Free show features performers from 11 schools.

It's "Glee," the Minneapolis version, and it's free.

Singers, dancers, rappers, spoken-word and hip-hop artists from 11 Minneapolis high schools will compete for top honors and cash prizes at a free show starting at 7 p.m. on Sat. Jan. 4 at the Pantages Theatre in downtown Minneapolis.

Winners of the home-grown talent show will be announced the night of the event.

To encourage support for the talent show finalists, Minneapolis MOSAIC has announced a donation of $1,000 cash to both the neighborhood and school in Minneapolis with the highest attendance at the talent show.

The 2011 MPLS TLNT SHW! finalists representing the 11 Minneapolis Communities are:

CALHOUN ISLES: Donni Owens – vocal performance

CAMDEN: Luther Redus – spoken word

CENTRAL: Armoni Jackson – vocal

LONGFELLOW: Quang Nguyen – pop and lock hip hop dance

NEAR NORTH: AR & YD – hip hop rap

NOKOMIS: Kyra Anderson – vocal/guitar

NORTHEAST: Jerrica Jones, Bobby Washington, and Khalil Moody – drum performance

PHILIPS: Leyton Guallpa and Kiara Machuca – Mexican Jalisco dance

POWDERHORN: Donita "Young Vocals" Owens – vocal

SOUTHWEST: Rosie Linsner – vocal/piano

UNIVERSITY: Daysha Patterson – original rap
