T.J. Stiles wins Guggenheim

Foley native, Carleton grad now lives in California

T.J. Stiles, a native of Foley, Minn., and a graduate of Carleton College, has been awarded a Guggenheim fellowship for 2011. Stiles won both a National Book Award and the Pulitzer Prize for his most recent book, "The First Tycoon: The Epic Life of Cornelius Vanderbilt."

He is also the author of a biography of Jesse James. He now lives in California.
