A deputy sheriff in western Minnesota has shot and wounded a man suspected of armed robbery.
The Swift County Sheriff's Office says the 55-year-old was taken to a hospital. His condition wasn't immediately known. Deputies say Appleton police and a Swift County sheriff's deputy spotted a vehicle linked to an armed robbery that had taken place a short time earlier in Morris. A news release said authorities stopped the vehicle Saturday just before 1 a.m. in rural Swift County, about 145 miles west of Minneapolis. The statement didn't address what prompted the deputy to open fire.
The unnamed suspect was the only person in the vehicle. No one else was injured. The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is investigating the shooting.
