An SUV busted through the side of a Walmart in Grand Forks, leaving two customers injured, authorities said.

The incident occurred about 2:30 p.m. Friday at the store on 32nd Avenue S., police said.

Ahmed Digale, 27, of Grand Forks, attempted to stop on the west side of the store, "but the vehicle continued moving east and crashed through the fire doors of the building," a statement from police read.

The SUV came to a stop about 30 feet into the store amid many toppled merchandise displays, the statement continued. Store staff had the building evacuated.

One customer was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital for treatment of unspecified injures, police added. Another customer who was hurt declined treatment at the scene.

"Preliminary investigation indicates the accident was a result of mechanical failure of the vehicle," police said.
