A 24-year-old Minneapolis woman crossing the street in St. Paul on Thursday night was struck by a suspected drunken driver, police said on Friday.

Abigail Lonski was leaving work and crossing Selby Avenue northbound at Snelling Avenue about 11:15 p.m. when she was struck by a car being driven by a 60-year-old man from Mendota Heights, according to police. The car was traveling east on Selby.

Lonski was conscious and able to speak with police at the scene. She was transported to Hennepin County Medical Center and later released.

Reached by phone Friday, Lonski said she was fine, but declined further comment.

The driver stopped at the scene. Police said that he showed signs of being intoxicated and was booked into the Ramsey County jail on suspicion of criminal-vehicular operation, but has not been charged.

"We certainly believe that alcohol played a role in this crash," said St. Paul police officer John Keating, a department spokesman.

The driver provided a blood sample for testing. Results could take weeks.
