The hunt is on for a man suspected of attempting to abduct an 11-year-old girl while she was walking in a central Minnesota neighborhood.

The incident happened Friday evening in the Rockwood Estates mobile home park in Rice, the Benton County Sheriff's Office said Tuesday. The girl was not harmed.

According to the Sheriff's Office:

The girl said a man in a van approached her and offered a ride. He became angry when she refused to get in the vehicle. She fled, and authorities were notified.

The suspect is described as about 60 years old, with wavy dark hair. He had short sideburns.

The van was described as an older model, gray with black molding, tinted windows and a passenger-side sliding door. It had Minnesota Critical Habitat plates with an image of a loon.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the Sheriff's Office at 1-320-968-7201.
