A suspect has been arrested in connection with a fatal stabbing that occurred Wednesday night in the parking lot of the former Oltman Middle School in St. Paul Park.

The suspect was arrested early Thursday and booked into Washington County jail. Charges are pending, said St. Paul Park Police Chief Jessica Danberg with the Washington County Sheriff's Office.

No information about the victim was released Thursday night.

The stabbing happened about 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in the parking lot at 1020 3rd St., according to Danberg. When officers arrived, they found one person with fatal wounds.

Little other information was released, but Danberg said that "there is no reason for the public to be concerned" about safety.

The stabbing is being investigated by St. Paul Park police, the Sheriff's Office and police from Woodbury and Cottage Grove, as well as the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.

An identification of the victim will come from the Ramsey County Medical Examiner's Office.
