Biting cold heightened by stinging winds will grip the East and much of the Midwest on Sunday as an extended cold wave unfolds. RealFeel Temperatures will hover near and below zero at Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Detroit, Chicago and Minneapolis.

The feel of single-digit cold will effect residents of Boston, New York, Philadelphia, Baltimore and Washington, D.C.

Truly harsh, even dangerous chills reaching 10 to 20 degrees below zero will lurk along the northern Great Lakes and throughout northern Ontario, Canada.

In short, the cold will necessitate care in dressing for any outdoor activity.

Extended exposure can bring frostbite, so a warm covering of extremities will be a must.

Even a routine drive to the supermarket can become serious in the event of a break-down. Motorists are urged to keep adequate warm clothes in their car for all trips, be they long or short trips.
