Sun shines in Tulsa, coming to Target Center after win

Connecticut is tough inside with two players on a double-double tear.

For the third game in a row, Connecticut's two Olympians both had double-doubles on Friday.

Center Tina Charles had 24 points and Asjha Jones had 14 -- and both has 10 rebounds -- as the visiting Sun beat Tulsa 86-75.

Connecticut (11-4) took a 25-10 lead in the opening quarter and won by 11.

The Sun will play the Lynx on Saturday night at the Target Center, trying to avenge a loss to Minnesota on its home court earlier in the season. Guard Ivory Latta led the Shock (2-13) with 24 points. She made six of seven three-point attempts.

The Sun had a 41-33 advantage in rebounding.

The Lynx play Tulsa twice next week, on the road on Tuesday and at home on Thursday.

* The Lynx did not practice on Friday after returning from Los Angeles. They will have a shootaround at 10 a.m. Saturday morning at Target Center.

SAN ANTONIO ON ROLL

San Antonio won its sixth game in a row, beating Washington 78-63. Sophia Young led the Silver Stars (10-5) with 18 points, all in the second half.

Teammate Becky Hammon had 16 points; she was four for six on three-point shots. San Antonio shot 52.6 percent.

Monique Currie scored 15 points for Washington (3-11).

SKY IS FALLING FAST

The New York Liberty edged Chicago 64-59 even though the SKy had a 45-30 advantage on the boards.

Cappie Pondexter scored 19 points for the Liberty (6-9). Sylvia Fowles had 20 points for the Sky (8-6). It began the seaosn 7-1, but is 1-5 in its last six games.

The Sky was atrocious at the free throw line, making just six of 21 attempts.

* The Lynx in the West and the Sun in the East each have 2-1/2 game leads over two teams.

Tied for second in the West are San Antonio and Los Angeles; second in the East are Chicago and Indiana.
