Longtime Twin Cities music promoter Sue McLean, who died in May of cancer, will be saluted with a tribute concert starring Eric Hutchinson on Nov. 23 at First Avenue.

In her more than 35 years as a promoter, McLean often promoted new names and watched them rise to stardom. Among her discoveries were Lyle Lovett, Brandi Carlile, the Avett Brothers and New York singer-songwriter Hutchinson (pictured at right), who calls the Twin Cities his top market.

McLean booked the Music in the Zoo series at the Minnesota Zoo and the Basilica Block Party as well as concerts at the Guthrie, Fitzgerald and just about every theater in the metro area.

The concert will be a fundraiser for her 12-year-old daughter's trust fund. Some of McLean's personal music memorabilia will be auctioned at the event and online.

Other performers for the Nov. 23 event will be announced later.

Tickets, priced at $50 and $150 for VIP, will go on sale Friday at First Avenue outlets.

As an eviction crisis has seemed increasingly likely this summer, everyone in the housing market has made the same plea to Washington: Send money — lots of it — that would keep renters in their homes and landlords afloat.
