It was 1995 at the first Basilica Block Party, and the fashion headliners were distinctly of the times: denim overalls, cutoff shorts, crop tops and plaid button-ups (tied around the waist, of course). Twenty years later, we're reviving variations of those closet staples from the mid-'90s for our favorite summertime music festivals.

Next up in this busy outdoor concert season is the holy grail (so to speak) of long-running local fests — the Basilica of St. Mary's annual block party this Friday and Saturday.

Already this summer, festival-goers have been outfitting themselves in the name of comfort, from classic maxi dresses to cool prints. We found plenty of inspiration at local boutiques to get you ready for a music and fashion-filled weekend.

Styling by Sarah Edwards; modeling by Jaime Christmas, Trevor Small, Davee Ek, Sara Sundquist Castle.

As an eviction crisis has seemed increasingly likely this summer, everyone in the housing market has made the same plea to Washington: Send money — lots of it — that would keep renters in their homes and landlords afloat.
