RACINE, Wis. — The president of a Racine County village has been sentenced to probation for stalking his former girlfriend for a year.

Racine County Judge Tim Boyle says Steven Jansen became "obsessive, manipulative and disturbed" in his pursuit of his ex-girlfriend. Boyle sentenced the 53-year-old president of Sturtevant to 1½ years of probation, fined him $1,000 and ordered him to have no contact with the woman. The judge stayed a 90-day jail term.

Jansen was accused of repeatedly calling and emailing the woman and leaving messages for her at her son's grave. The Journal Times (http://bit.ly/10MvPgY ) says Jansen earlier pleaded no contest to two misdemeanors in an agreement with prosecutors.
