Commenter Stu is here to remember people who you might have forgotten about. But he'll make you remember them in HIS way. Stu? -------

The Huntdown

Name: Denny Neagle Claim to Fame, Minnesota: was an All-Big Ten pitcher for the University of Minnesota before being drafted by the Minnesota Twins in the 3rd round of the 1989 MLB Draft. The lefty joined the Twins in 1991 but did not make the postseason roster, and was traded to Pittsburgh with Midre Cummings for John Smiley in 1992. Claim to Fame, Everywhere Else: was an All-Star for the Pirates in 1995 and the Braves in 1997, leading the National League in the highly relevant "wins" category that year with 20. He also won a World Series ring with the 2000 Yankees, despite losing both his ALCS starts to then-Mariner Freddy Garcia. Claim to Infamy, Everywhere Else: was named in the Mitchell Report as someone who allegedly used HGH and steroids. Unfortunately, that was perhaps NOT the low point for Neagle in the last decade. This is the low point. If for some reason you want to delve further, here's a 2009 blog item about some alleged Facebook shenanigans, with an anonymous commenter claiming to be Neagle defending himself in the comments. Where He Is Now: serves on the board of the Connor Cares Foundation. Is He on Twitter: no. Did a Friend of Michael Rand Interview Neagle for a 1996 Minnesota Daily Article: yes. Glorious Randomness: did you want to see a picture of Denny Neagle getting a haircut? Today is your lucky day, friends.
