A weak disturbance emerging from the Rockies will cause thunderstorms to dot the central Plains this afternoon. The thunderstorms will then race towards the border of Arkansas and Missouri at night.

The thunderstorms will be widely separated with the severe weather threat even more isolated. Still, the potential for a few thunderstorms to produce strong winds and pounding hail cannot be ruled out. Dangerous lightning is always a risk with thunderstorms, even when severe weather criteria is not anticipated.
