Even if the heaviest snow is beginning to end Friday morning, it does notmean that travel conditions will begin to improve. That being said, towns and cities may still begin to see improving conditionsthrough the day, only because of the sheltering effect buildings will haveblocking the strong wind. The wind will continue to gust over 20 to near 30 mphthrough the day Friday, blowing around the massive amounts of snow that fellacross most of southern New York. Unsheltered sections of roadway will continueto be snow covered and drifted over through the day, even if the snow hasstopped.

In areas farther south into Pennsylvania and western New York, only a fewinches of snow fell overnight. But don't let the lack of snow surprise you, roads will still be drifted over and snow covered throughout these areas, aswell, as a strong westerly wind continues.
