July 9, 2016 at 10:51PM

A 59-year-old man died Friday night after what authorities characterized as a domestic disturbance in Stillwater.

William Mark Scheel's death was ruled a homicide by the Ramsey County medical examiner.

His son William James Scheel, 30, also sustained critical injuries and is in stable condition, the Washington County Sheriff's Office said in a news release.

Officers answering a call about a domestic disturbance in the 400 block of Mulberry Street found the two men there critically injured. Both were then taken to Regions Hospital.

While Stillwater police and the Sheriff's Office are investigating, the news release said, "There is no threat to the public."

The Scheel family has asked for privacy, the Sheriff's office said.
