One bridge over the St. Croix River will close for steel and deck repairs Wednesday soon after another reopened.
The well-traveled Hwy. 243 bridge to Osceola, Wis., will close until late May. On the Minnesota side, the bridge begins at Franconia Township in Washington County.
After the bridge reopens, pavement resurfacing will continue on the Minnesota side approach road and flaggers will direct traffic until late July, the Minnesota Department of Transportation said. Trucks weighing more than 10 tons will be detoured around the site until then.
Meanwhile, the Stillwater Lift Bridge opened to traffic Tuesday evening after two days of maintenance and inspection work.
Alternatives for crossing the St. Croix include the Hwy. 8 bridge at Taylors Falls, Minn., or Interstate 94 in Hudson, Wis.
