STEPMOTHER'S DAY EVENT

Mother's Day has been a national holiday since 1914, but it wasn't until 2000 that stepmoms got their day. A resolution to establish Stepmother's Day was read into the Congressional Record in 2001. Although no legislation was introduced, some blended families celebrate on the Sunday after Mother's Day.

The Twin Cities Stepmom Meetup group will mark the day with dinner and drinks at 7:30 p.m. Monday at Urban Eatery, 2730 W. Lake St., Minneapolis.

"Sunday is for families. Monday is for us to support and encourage and celebrate each other," said organizer and stepmother Angie Arnold. All stepmothers and second wives are invited. To register to attend, go to www.meetup.com/Twin-Cities-Stepmom-Meetup.
