Let's be honest: For many of us, the Super Bowl is really about the food.
OK, maybe you're the guy who got Tom Brady's face tattooed on your biceps. Or maybe you're the gal who created a spreadsheet of Matt Ryan stats to send to the Hall of Fame committee.
(Note for non-football fans: Brady and Ryan are quarterbacks.)
But for the rest of us, the first Sunday in February is about getting together, watching some good pigskin and stuffing yourself like a turkey on some holiday-level grub.
We approve of that mind-set. And this year, we're here to help your snacking efforts go All. The. Way. (See what we did there?)
Forget the bean dip and delivery pizza — this New England vs. Atlanta matchup provides plenty of East Coast inspiration for a menu that will have you hooting and hollering before the game even begins. And while a fierce battle might play out on the field, these region-themed menus with a seafood flair cozy right up to each other with seamless chemistry. Shrimp hush puppies mingle with mugs of clam chowder. Pimento cheese rubs shoulders with lobster sliders. Rum and bourbon cocktails, employing ingredients like peaches, thyme, blueberries and bitters, complete the spread and elevate the occasion beyond a fridge full of beer. (Of course, having a little beer on hand is good, too.)
So if you're serious about scoring touchdowns (yes, we went there) with your fellow food fans, read on for our take on how to win Super Bowl LI — from the kitchen. Pick sides and make one menu, or make both, and let your party guests duke out the MVPs.
Just don't get a drumstick tattooed on your biceps.
