June 30, 2017 at 12:34AM

A driver ran a stop sign at a central Minnesota intersection Wednesday and fatally struck another motorist, authorities said.

The crash occurred about 4:30 p.m. roughly 4 miles south of Brooten in western Stearns County, according to the Sheriff's Office.

Kassie Lyn Dillon, 16, who was driving with the right of way, was killed, the Sheriff's Office said. Her passenger, Justin V. Cumberbatch, 20, of Alexandria, and the other driver, Christopher W. Ziemer, 42, of Belgrade, Minn., were hospitalized in St. Cloud with serious injuries.

Dillon was driving south on County Road 18 when her vehicle was struck by a westbound car driven on County Road 19 by Ziemer, who "failed to stop for the stop sign," a statement from the Sheriff's Office read. Dillon died at the scene.
