Republican state Senate candidate Mike Parry apologized Wednesday for racially offensive comments he posted on Twitter about President Barack Obama.

Parry had tweeted that Obama was a "Power Hungry Arrogant Black Man," and linked Democrats to pedophiles.

In a statement released by his campaign Wednesday, Parry said that he took responsibility for "all mistakes in my past tweets." He said the comments were written quickly and out of frustration over federal spending.

The race in Senate District 26 is among Parry, Democrat Jason Engbrecht and Independence Party candidate Roy Srp. The election will be held Jan. 26.
